About the Opportunity:

The Welder I position is responsible for assisting and gaining increased knowledge in the joining, fabricating, and repairing of metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding equipment.

Location: Manchester, CT

This role will be onsite 100% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Gains proficiency on welding equipment to fabricate and assemble materials based on job specifications
  • Assists and/or sets up welding equipment based on job specifications
  • Assists in maintaining welding equipment
  • Gains greater understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
  • Learns to check welds visually and dimensionally with precision measuring instruments for conformance to blueprints and specifications
  • Assists with the manufacture and maintenance of component parts and fixtures as required
  • Maintains specific tolerances and accurately performs dimensions.
  • Assists in checking parts using specified gages or furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures; follows all applicable safety rules and precautions
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year relevant experience working with a variety of metals, including exotic metals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional welding certification
  • Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn shop geometry and trigonometry
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Mathematical ability
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
