Position description
UCSF Specialist - Xu Lab The Xu Lab at the UCSF Diabetes Center is seeking to fill a position of Associate Specialist or Full Specialist. The overall research focus is to understand the mechanisms behind obesity and type 2 diabetes. Our work focuses on elucidating the functions of the brain neuronal circuits in adaptive regulation of food intake, energy expenditure, glucose and lipid metabolism in response to physiological and environmental changes. The candidate is expected to present at seminars, journal clubs and other scientific meetings. Required Qualifications:
- Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in biological sciences or a related field or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization, by the time of hire.
- Specialists appointed at the Full Specialist rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) in biological sciences or a related field or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization, by the time of hire.
- Extensive research experience in neuroscience using animal models.
- Having excellent communication skills and superb work ethics are absolute requirements.
- The candidate should have the ability to carry out experiments independently, perform data analysis, interpret results and do troubleshooting.
