Overview Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring a The Senior Water Quality Scientist to join our team at our Kansas City office. This position reports to the Market Director and is responsible for assessing water quality sampling data, assessing the health and pollutants impacts in receiving stream, and performing scenario planning using water quality modeling within lakes, rivers, estuaries and coastal systems. This position will leverage water quality sampling data as well as water quality modeling tools like EFDC, WASP, CE-QUAL-W2, along with other two-dimensional and three-dimensional water quality modeling tools to support the Water market as well as Woolpert's other global service offerings. Our clients are facing a multitude of challenges including receiving stream eutrophication and growing non-point source pollution from stormwater, population growth and increasing urban stream wasting impacting the health and vitality of our water systems, climate change exacerbating pollutant runoff and stream erosion, accelerating coastal erosion due to sea level rise and more frequent storm surge, ecosystem impacts and the loss of fluvial and coastal resilience, etc. The Senior Water Quality Scientist will assess water quality sampling data and leverage water quality models to better understand dynamic system responses to these challenges, visualize impacts, drive better and more cost-effective mitigation strategies. This individual will work across the country with other Woolpert's Water professionals to deliver water quality services. In addition, Senior Water Quality Scientist will collaborate with the Federal, Buildings, Infrastructure, and Geospatial leaders to ensure the firm can support and deliver these services globally. Responsibilities Support the delivery of water quality services through analysis of water quality data and the use of 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D water quality models.
