Desktop Engineer

What you will be doing:

This position is directly involved with the operational delivery of technical services within ITS. Desktop Engineers have primary responsibility for delivery of services required to install, configure, monitor, support and manage the Premier systems. The Desktop Engineer possesses an enterprise view and understanding of the systems and technologies in place at Premier, as well as strong technical skills. This person performs operations planning, configuration, and management for complex systems and/or services within Premier. While primarily responsible for hardware and operating system components, this person possesses a higher-level understanding of the business environment and the business applications running on the systems being managed, and leverages that knowledge to achieve operational efficiencies, including recommending improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1- 75%

  • Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade activities for PC systems

  • Troubleshoots and repairs PC system failures or problems

  • Participates as a technical resource in cross-team troubleshooting efforts

Responsibility #2 - 10%

  • Participate in the evaluation, selection and installation of new hardware products and operating system versions

Responsibility #3 - 5%

  • Creates supportable documents pertaining to system builds and configuration

  • Ensures that documentation is kept up to date and reflects all changes

Responsibility #4 - 5%

  • Maintains and updates relevant components of the disaster recovery plan, and performs recovery testing as part of an overall disaster recovery planning process

  • Participates in disaster recovery testing and the updating/ maintenance of disaster recovery scripts and documentation

Responsibility #5 - 5%

  • Schedules and manages system activities to optimize hardware/software availability and utilization

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Experience doing computer support on a laptop, desktop, mobile device in a corporate level environment

  • Knowledge of imaging and deployment

  • Problem Resolution

Experience:

  • Solid understanding of target operating system (i.e. Windows, Mac); Resource Management

  • Knowledgeable about all aspects of Engineering (configuration of systems, installation)

Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space Travel Requirements: No travel required Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $51,000 - $95,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
