Blattner is seeking a Mechanical Completion Lead to oversee the mechanical completion process for our wind turbine site in Corona, New Mexico. This position will be required to understand and prepare tower for owner and manufacture walk down and final sign off.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Manage mechanical completion activities, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards
  • Conduct inspections, punch list walkdowns, and verify outstanding work completion.
  • Maintain completion records, test reports, and handover documentation
  • Manage crews throughout tower to ensure quality is being performed correctly.
  • Identify hazards in the work they are performing, making smart decisions concerning quality, safety, and production.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • At least 2 years of Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) experience is required.
  • Knowledge on GE turbines, and the manuals.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of WTG, quality, processes, and installation checklist.
  • Technically skilled in the installation and electrical procedures with regards to the WTG
  • Knowledge in tooling and how to use it properly/safe. Know proper rigging points, and tool rigging being used
  • Experience with tower wiring (please see below)

Tower Wiring Specifics:

1. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.

2. Follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion.

3. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assemble, and installs electrical conduit.

4. Pulls wiring through conduit.

5. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.

6. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.

7. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.

8. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.

9. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

10. Ensure the cleanliness of the turbine.
