The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University's traditional campus is looking for Adjunct Instructors for our School of Arts, Sciences, and Education (SASE) to teach in our low-residency MFA program. Reporting to our Associate Dean of SASE, Adjunct Instructors will mentor from one to five students per term, remotely, providing feedback to student writing on set deadlines throughout the term. Instructors will also attend week long residencies in June 22 to June 29, 2025, where they will co-teach peer writing workshops, instruct at least one craft workshop, and give a reading from one's own work.

  • MFA510: Workshop - Fiction Writing I
  • MFA511: Workshop - Fiction Writing II
  • MFA512: Graduate Fiction Workshop III
  • MFA513: Graduate Fiction Workshop IV

What you'll do:

  • Mentor assigned students throughout the semester
  • Read student work and provide prompt feedback
  • Participate in two week long residencies per year

What we're looking for:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline, PhD is preferred
  • Teaching experience at the college level
  • Substantial publication history of at least two novels or short story collections published by major presses or under contract with major presses.

Compensation

The standard compensation for courses is $2,800 - $3,400 per 16-week undergraduate or graduate course. Actual pay is determined at the time of course assignment based on discipline.
