Vice President R&D, Program Management Office (PMO)

Position Summary
Myriad Genetics is seeking a visionary and strategic Vice President to lead the R&D Program Management Office (PMO). This critical role will ensure the on-time and on-budget delivery of high-quality new products while driving disciplined portfolio management and resource optimization to achieve near-term revenue growth and long-term sustainability. Reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer, this leader will collaborate across business units, R&D teams, and the executive team to implement innovative tools and processes that support Myriad Genetics' mission of advancing health and well-being through groundbreaking molecular diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities



  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Lead the R&D Program Management Office to enable disciplined project governance and ensure the seamless transition of products from concept to market release.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership and R&D teams to align program management strategies with organizational goals.
    • Drive portfolio management initiatives, including resource allocation, project prioritization, and performance tracking, to maximize value delivery.

  • Operational Excellence:

    • Build and implement tools and frameworks for effective R&D portfolio management, resource planning, and risk assessment.
    • Lead cross-functional alignment to optimize the delivery of the R&D product portfolio roadmap.
    • Establish and maintain best practices in program management to improve efficiency, predictability, and innovation outcomes.

  • Team Development:

    • Build and mentor a high-performing PMO team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Serve as a member of the R&D Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to showcase the full value of the R&D portfolio and align with business objectives.



Qualifications



  • 15+ years of experience in diagnostics or medical device R&D.
  • 10+ years of experience in project and program management.
  • 10+ years of experience in people management, with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of program management tools (e.g., Gantt charts, risk analysis, resource allocation, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience establishing PMOs and optimizing processes.
  • Proficiency in portfolio management methodologies (e.g., NPV, ROI, IRR).
  • Proven expertise in concept-to-launch product development and managing R&D project budgets.


Skills



  • Experience in genetics, genomics, molecular biology, or related fields is preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with a track record of optimizing innovation and product development processes.
  • Highly effective communication skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences and building consensus.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Respected for execution excellence, governance, and delivering predictable outcomes.
  • Demonstrates humility, integrity, and drive.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) are preferred.
