POSITION TITLE: Ground Support Equipment Coordinator DATE: March 2025

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPT: MA

LOC: Delaware


POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly motivated Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this vital role focuses on ensuring the safety, readiness, and operational efficiency of our ground support equipment fleet. The GSE Coordinator will be responsible for performing routine inspections, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and cleaning of equipment. This role also involves physical tracking, receiving new equipment, and developing a comprehensive inspection and maintenance schedule. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and a proven ability to keep all equipment in peak condition in line with safety and operational standards; performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Maintain and Track Equipment: Ensure the proper maintenance and tracking of the entire ground support equipment fleet, following the Summit GSE Procedure and company guidelines.



  • Hands-On Equipment Maintenance: Perform hands-on maintenance activities to keep powered and non-powered equipment (e.g., Tugs, Fork Lifts, Scissor Lifts, Hydraulic Power Units, Diesel GPUs, and more) in top condition and ready for immediate use.



  1. Collaborate with Shop Teams: Coordinate with department leads to deliver equipment to the shop floor and ensure equipment is in a "Ready to use" state.
  2. Outsource Repairs When Needed: Outsource maintenance and repairs as necessary, contact the vendors, setup purchase order's in Corridor and meet with vendors on site.
  3. Cost Reduction and Improvements: Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and operational improvements to enhance efficiency and meet customer needs.
  4. Develop Inspection and Maintenance Programs: Create and implement a periodic inspection/maintenance program to ensure equipment serviceability, safety, and operational efficiency.
  5. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records for inspections, certifications, calibrations, and other historical data using Q-pulse software.
  6. Configuration Control: Handle configuration control tasks such as technical orders, service bulletins, and safety alerts for GSE equipment.
  7. Corrosion Control: Implement a corrosion control program for all GSE..
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Mechanical Experience: Hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of powered and non-powered ground support equipment (e.g., Tugs, Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, Hydraulic Power Units, Diesel GPUs, etc.) is essential.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to address multiple priorities effectively and efficiently.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for record management, tracking and reporting.

Vehicle Experience: To safely operate or have the ability to learn how to safely operate Forklift, Scissor lift, Tugs and other equipment, as necessary.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work. Must be proficient with the use of hand tools and have a mechanical background.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
