Production Manager

***This position requires an active MBI clearance or the ability to obtain a MBI clearance to be considered. ***

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

Cherokee Federal is seeking a combination of production scanning expertise and leadership experience to manage our team performing high speed scanning and digitalization activities at the IRS technology campus in Ogden, UT.

The Production manager will lead and oversee the training, and management of a team responsible for piloting a new paper digitization effort for our federal client. This role involves working with various stakeholders to ensure the successful conversion of physical documents into digital formats, optimizing scanning workflows, ensuring data security and compliance, and supporting the organization's digital transformation goals. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in production scanning technology, digitization process, and large-scale project execution.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $80,000 to $100,000

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

High-Level Responsibilities Include:



  • Lead a team of 7+ in the day-to-day operations of processing IRS documents in the form of mail received daily.
  • Oversees the on-site production operation of day-to-day scanning process.
  • Oversees support for all positions in the document digitization process project.
  • Supports real-time data gathering for analyst of the digitization process.
  • Supports business process reengineering improvements to maximize the new system's potential, improving overall tax processing speed and accuracy.
  • Monitors, tracks and reports on all day-to-day deployment and support activities.
  • Liaise with project personnel to execute project plans and achieve set target.



Detailed Responsibilities Include:



  • Motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to production staff.
  • Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep an organization accident-free.
  • Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
  • Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
  • Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of production operations.
  • Setting productivity goals for each manufacturing team
  • Ensuring adequate scheduling of staff.
  • Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Prepare briefing material for reports to stakeholders on progress.
  • Confer with upper management and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective implementation of a project.
  • Coordinate the hiring, training, and orienting of temporal or permanent personnel.
  • Organize and lead team meetings to discuss or communicate changes in project plans.
  • Oversee the team responsible to:

    • Train all team members in the position they are assigned to work.
    • Ensure the system is fully operational and report issues swiftly.
    • Ensure team is following all documented instruction and duties as assigned to their position.
    • Provide support, for all team members in the day-to day digitization process.
    • Allocate project resources.
    • Create a project schedule and timeline.
    • Lead quality assurance.
    • Ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.



Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities required:



  • Bachelors in related field or 3 years of experience in lieu of education
  • 5+ years in a leadership role for Digital transformation services, handling all operation of the digital process for mid- and large-sized organizations.
  • Project planning, risk management, time management and other project management skills.
  • Experience with deploying, rolling out of new digital production solutions and supporting customers and users.
  • Experience with high-speed scanning technologies and document management systems (DMS)
  • Familiarity with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and image processing software
  • Experience working in Agile SLDC-style teams.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading a team of at least 5 individuals.
  • Conflict resolution experience.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and communicate to other teams as needed.
  • Ability to display patience and understanding.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
  • MDI security clearance preferred, if not ability to qualify for MDI security clearance.


Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities highly desirable:



  • Previous experience supporting IRS or equivalent federal agency preferred.
