RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management



  • To take overall ownership of specific projects and project teams as designated and assigned, with the aim of ensuring a project's successful, timely and cost-effective conclusion
  • Establishing contact with the client and being the single conduit or communication for the company, including regular monthly reporting on the project in accordance with current company requirements.
  • Ensures that organizational quality systems and training are in place and enforced.
  • Managing the commercial and contractual requirements of the project
  • Communicating to appropriate senior management, any customer, staff or supplier problem encountered by, or within, the project team.
  • Manage the commissioning of projects to ensure commissioning is both effective and timely.
  • Specific team functions include (to be undertaken, or delegated, by the Project Manager):


    • Ensuring that all technical and commercial requirements are understood and complied with as per the specifications and contract documents.
    • Establishing schedules for the projects, using critical path planning and monitoring progress against these schedules.
    • Arranging sub-contract work on the projects as required.
    • Handling all commercial aspects of the project, such as progress claims, duty drawbacks, freight and shipping etc.
    • Communicating and scheduling to ensure the project objectives are met.




People Management



  • To maintain positive communications with staff, peers, the manufacturing operations, suppliers and customers.
  • Building an effective team whereby projects are managed by team consensus and encourage all relevant staff to take ownership and accountability for their areas of responsibility.
  • Provide feedback and where appropriate, undertake performance reviews with team members on projects, both during and at the conclusion of the project.



Purchasing/ Budgeting



  • Monitoring and controlling the project budgets and leading the project team so that the tasks are planned and coordinated in the most effective manner and budgets are not exceeded.
  • To specify and, when required, purchase materials and components constituting part of the equipment designed, always endeavoring to minimize their cost by every means possible.
  • Arranging for the efficient cost-effective purchasing of major proprietary components.
  • Assessing and reporting on the total costs to complete and sales values at the end of each month.
  • Work with relevant staff to continuously refine purchasing processes and reduce lost time and excess costs due to missed or delayed materials orders.
  • Develop and conduct various site-specific safety related trainings to drive an improved culture of safety.
  • Developing initiatives to improve project performance. Makes recommendations for changes to improve quality and reduce costs.
  • Maintains a continuous review of production demands and ensures manpower is properly assigned on a daily basis to reach necessary production output. Investigates any delays and reports findings to the production manager.



Reporting and Documentation



  • Keeping accurate and up to date records on all aspect of work done, using existing documents and processes
  • Performing Quality Control inspections to ensure project is complete
  • Clarifying and bringing immediately to the attention of any member of the Executive group, any issues arising in respect of the project (commercial, technical, financial, schedule etc.).
  • Preparing service reports, as necessary.
  • Prepare expense reports, as necessary.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.




REQUIREMENTS/ SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated results in successful Manufacturing or Engineering Project Management
  • Excellent understanding of the requirements of relevant legislation.
  • Ability to prepare and present reports and ideas.
  • Minimum (3) years in leadership role; management experience leading teams across multiple geographies preferred.
  • Minimum (5) years' experience in project management or coordination in the industrial automation sector preferred
  • Proven working experience in project management in the industrial automation sector
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Practical, highly adaptable, resourceful and organized
  • Able to solve problems on the spot and complete the work thoroughly
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Self-motivated, confident, able to conduct presentations in small groups
  • Proficient and professional verbal and written communication
  • Commercially aware
  • Machine and personal safety aware
