Job Summary

The OR Equipment Technician II, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, will participate as an integral member of the patient care team. The OR Equipment Technician performs multiple support functions directed toward improved efficiencies in the OR and positive patient care outcomes.

All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided. Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $43.30 - $54.05 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

Clinical Systems is responsible for all aspects of the Electronic Health Record (APeX) and other clinical and infrastructure applications for UCSF Health hospitals, practices, affiliates and community partners.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 1 year experience as an Equipment Technician
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Recent experience (within the last two years) working with ophthalmology and OHNS service lines
  • Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
  • Ability to think critically and proactively to support the OR team
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to support multiple Surgeons and staff
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced complex environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Must have manual dexterity to manipulate small equipment including, but not limited to, twisting bulbs, turning dials, changing batteries, and pushing buttons
  • Must be able to move in confined spaces. Must be able to repetitively lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications


  • Recent experience (within the last two years) working with microscopes, lasers, and robots
  • Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification
