Celebrating a Century: https://100.scripps.edu/ POSITION TITLE: Research Development Coordinator POSITION SUMMARY: The Research Development Coordinator (RDC) supports the Office of Sponsored Programs by working with the Research Development Officer (RDO) to advance the institution's research priorities. Key duties include tracking funding opportunities, organizing proposal timelines, supporting workshops, and assisting with faculty onboarding to connect them to grant resources and collaboration opportunities. The RDC helps diversify funding by identifying sources, communicating opportunities, and maintaining records of proposals and grants to inform data-driven decisions. By fostering collaboration and expanding research impact, the RDC strengthens the institution's capacity for impactful research. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Funding Opportunity Tracking and Management
- Serve as the primary resource for tracking and disseminating diverse funding opportunities from federal, state, and private sources to align with institutional research priorities.
- Maintain a comprehensive calendar of proposal deadlines and submission timelines, providing proactive reminders and tailored support to faculty to ensure timely submissions.
- Coordinate the distribution of funding opportunity communications, including newsletters, bulletins, and announcements, to keep faculty informed and engaged with relevant opportunities.
Proposal Support and Coordination
- Support the RDO in coordinating the development of competitive proposals, with a special focus on junior faculty-led projects, large-scale interdisciplinary initiatives, and center grants.
- Facilitate the proposal submission process by liaising with lab and grant administrators, tracking required approvals, and supporting compliance with funding guidelines in non-technical proposal sections.
- Provide strategic assistance to enhance proposal quality and alignment with sponsor priorities, ensuring submissions reflect the institution's strengths and research goals.
Outreach and Workshop Organization
- Assist in the planning and execution of faculty workshops, training sessions, and seminars designed to build grant-seeking skills and promote research development.
- Oversee logistical coordination for outreach events, including scheduling, venue setup, speaker arrangements, and attendee communication, ensuring efficient and impactful events.
- Gather and analyze feedback from workshops and events, reporting outcomes to the RDO to guide improvements and shape future programming.
Database and Records Management
- Maintain a centralized database to track funding opportunities, proposal submissions, and awarded grants, focusing on faculty engagement and proposal success rates.
- Manage the research development website by consistently updating relevant content, ensuring all information is accurate, up-to-date, and engaging.
- Document and analyze outcomes of funded and unfunded proposals, providing insights to enhance funding strategies and identify areas for improvement, especially for junior faculty.
- Generate regular reports on proposal activity, event participation, and funding acquisition trends to support the RDO's data-driven decision-making and institutional reporting needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in business, research administration, life sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in research administration, project coordination, or related administrative roles.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with database management and analysis.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail in tracking and reporting.
- Proven adaptability and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.

- This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of research funding processes in an academic or research environment.
- Experience coordinating events, workshops, or outreach initiatives.
- Proficiency with grant submission platforms (e.g., NIH eRA Commons, Grants.gov) and proposal development processes.
COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $27.00 to $32.00/hourly, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements. COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS INCLUDE:
