Summary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is seeking an Assistant Director for its North Little Rock Site. The Assistant Director of the North Little Rock Site reports to the Dean of the Division of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education and provides leadership for the North Little Rock Site. Duties of the Assistant Director include:
*Recruit students for classes and programs offered at the North Little Rock Site
*Liaise with business leaders to identify, and assist UAPB academic departments to develop, new programs and certificates desired by area businesses to enhance the capabilities of their employees
*With the assistance and consent of the academic departments, identify and secure qualified and appropriately credentialed adjunct faculty to teach classes at the North Little Rock Site
*Schedule courses at the North Little Rock Site
*Review course syllabi for compliance with academic requirements
*In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Continuing Education, assist community organizations in planning new programs, workshops, meetings and seminars at the North Little Rock Site that are desired by the public
*Ensure that the North Little Rock Site meets the academic needs of the instructors and students
*Collaborate with the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success, Division of Student Affairs, and Division of Institutional Advancement and Development to grow enrollment, place graduates in careers and assist with university fund raising efforts in support of the North Little Rock Site's mission
*Supervise the maintenance and upkeep of the facility
*Oversee security for the North Little Rock Site
*Communicate with the landlord and UAPB administration to ensure the smooth function of the North Little Rock Site
*Supervise and evaluate support staff
*Other duties as assigned Qualifications:

Educational Background

Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, public administration, human resources, or a related field required. Master's degree in a relevant field such as education administration, business administration (MBA), public administration, or organizational leadership is preferred.

Professional Experience

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in educational administration, workforce development or a related field. Experience working in both educational settings and with the business community is highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach, partnership development, or stakeholder engagement, preferably involving both educational institutions and businesses.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, including planning, implementation and evaluation. Experience with grant writing and managing funded projects is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including business leaders, educators, students and parents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships, network and collaborate with various community partners.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities and make strategic decisions.
  • Ability to analyze labor market data, understand industry trends and translate this information into actionable workforce training and educational programs.
  • Skills in marketing, public relations and recruitment. Experience in student recruitment and familiarity with the high school education system is important.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to address challenges and find innovative solutions.

  • The Assistant Director of the North Little Rock Site must have a passion for improving educational outcomes and workforce readiness for students, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work in a dynamic environment.
  • The Assistant Director is expected to be a motivated self-starter who will work under minimal supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation are required.
