https://ualr.edu/mcnair Summary of Job Duties:The program coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing research and scholarly activities and providing advising and counseling support for participant undergraduate success and graduate school application and attainment. The position assists the director in achieving program objectives through recruitment, student need assessment, record keeping, and semester or annual reports. This position is a 100% grant funded, 12-month appointment Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, psychology, public administration, or closely related field;
  • Master's degree with two years of student affairs experience including college student advising, student activities, academic coaching, multicultural activities, and judicial affairs;
  • At least one year of experience working with TRIO programs or with TRIO related student population.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize technology, particularly Banner and Blumen;
  • Background similar to the target population.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide academic and graduate school advising to support students' goals for graduate programs and doctoral study;
  • Assess and monitor student academic progress to ensure successful performance, retention, and graduation of all program participants;
  • Recruit participants with the potentials and motivation for graduate school attainment and success and determine eligibility of students and conduct intake interviews;
  • Conduct required and appropriate number and types of contacts and appointments for each participant;
  • Enter and analyze student data into McNairdatabase for annual performance reports and record keeping. Assist with the Annual Performance Report;
  • Organize and/or facilitate workshops on graduate school admissions processes, graduate school funding, economic and financial literacy, Summer Research Internship, research methods and statistics, and other workshops as needed or useful to program participants;
  • Create and/or develop cultural and academic enrichment opportunities;
  • Assist with McNair student conferences, symposiums, and graduate school visits;
  • Coordinate and oversee the administration of theMcNair Bridge Student Organization
  • Work off-campus student events;
  • Attend TRIOworkshops, training sessions, and conferences for professional development and perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience working with first generation, low-income, and historically under-represented students;
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the work environment;
  • Ability to innovate to meet program goals;
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
