MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $4 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities; building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants; solar, wind, and thermal energy plants; buildings, and infrastructure.

Position Summary:

The Director of Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for ensuring consistent implementation of safety management systems across Condotte America and Lemartec Corp. This position supports all safety initiatives necessary to prevent negative events and create a total caring safety culture.


Responsibilities

  • Be an influential member of each company's Executive and Operations Leadership teams to ensure buy-in and follow through of safety systems and processes
  • Assist in formulating future direction and supporting tactical (plan do check act) safety initiatives
  • Actively participate in the implementation of strategic business plans
  • Represent Lemartec in all business development functions as they relate to EHS
  • Support any effort to develop Safety and front-line operations leadership skills
  • Assist in the recruitment, management, and career development of each HSE leader
  • Lead incident investigation efforts and communicate findings with the goal of preventing recurrence while fulling utilizing the donesafe safety information management tool
  • Create consistency in safety programs across the company to the extent practicable.
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
  • Develop and communicate leading and lagging performance measures that support the strategic safety direction
  • Implement operational best practices, controls, systems, etc.
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual safety reporting as deemed necessary
  • Oversee all injury case management activities
  • Manage subcontractor performance programs from the pre-qualification process through corrective action follow-through
  • Coordinate intercompany safety communications
  • Represent Lemartec in regulator safety assessments, investigations, and celebrations
  • Chair a monthly intercompany safety and operations leader coordination call
  • Be a contributor in any CE&I Group HSE function virtually or in person
  • Ensure company's safety training records for all employees are maintained
  • Assure Lessons Learned or Safety Alerts or developed for all serious incidents and are shared across Lemartec and the CE&I Group.
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of each company's risk profile
  • Monitor all open legal issues and coordinate with company attorneys in response to OSHA matters
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  • Support the risk management team as they complete annual company risk assessments

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or a safety related field with 15+ years of relevant experience, or 20+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • CSP Certification
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred -ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently is a plus

Knowledge/SKills/Abilities

  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from executive leaders, clients, regulators, and general public
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situational variables

TRAVEL:

Travel required up to 75%. Position requires presence directly on the Project Site locations with intermittent travel to residence of record.
