Department:ICE \| CORE PA Medical Access Financial/Auth Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Financial Counseling Specialist works with patients who have scheduled specific clinical services to promote financial clearance prior to the day of care. In addition to contacting payers and providers to secure authorizations as needed, this staff member provides information regarding hospital payment requirements, alternative financing & charity care programs during pre-service. This individual will relay relevant financial information in a clear and patient-friendly manner per UAMS' customer service and price transparency initiatives. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance, business or related PLUS two (3) years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle or revenue cycle related function Additional Information: Additional Information: Communicates with others regarding potential approval of patients and provides updates and reports regarding financial clearances on patient Discuss benefits and other transplant financial issues with patients and/or family members, advises patient on insurance and billing issues and options, and serves as a resource for patients and their family members on financial matters Explains financial obligation, payment options and assistance programs to the patient Obtains detailed patient insurance benefit information and verifies coverage and medical benefits Ensures financial regulatory compliance in keeping with requirements of various agencies Assists with Electronic Health Record database reporting and maintenance of patient and QA/PI related databases and flow sheets Perform other duties as assigned.
