Verisk Underwriting Solutions, Core Lines, is redefining our customer experience. Our Reimagine program is focused on modernizing our Forms, Rules and Loss Cost product and enabling delivery through a digital platform, enabling consumption and integration into customer workflows.

The Senior UX Designer combines the mindset of design thinking with frontend HTML/SCSS/JS skillsets to deliver accessible, responsive, scalable prototypes. This professional understands how to effectively communicate across disciplines, equally comfortable with concepts important to designers, developers, and stakeholders. As a Senior Designer, you will assist in the discovery and creation of new and improved solutions that result in unified, inclusive, and valuable experiences for our insurance industry customers.

This role collaborates with product and journey management, engineering, data and analytics, business stakeholders, and others. You will help to turn insights into actionable observations, define, test, and implement design solutions in one or more products.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in UX/UI design, with a robust portfolio demonstrating proficiency in creating impactful and user-friendly interfaces. A deep understanding of design principles allows translation of complex concepts into intuitive and engaging designs, enhancing user comprehension and interaction. Strong leadership skills enables mentorship and inspiration for junior designers, driving excellence in UX design within the team and organization. You excel in collaborating with stakeholders to understand user needs and business objectives, translating them into innovative and effective UX solutions. Your attention to detail ensures that every interaction aligns with usability standards and enhances the overall user experience.

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

  • UI/UX Leadership
  • Define and lead the UX design strategies for product experiences
  • Create high-fidelity designs that enhance the usability and accessibility of heavy data experiences
  • Partner closely with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to generate innovative concepts
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers, and developers to integrate visual design seamlessly into product experiences
  • Conduct design reviews, provide feedback to ensure the highest quality of visual execution across all projects
  • Stay current on the latest UX design trends and technologies, influencing the future of user experience
  • Champion design best practices and establish new patterns, contributing to a design system that ensures scalability across our product suite
  • Present design concepts and ideas clearly and persuasively to design leadership and executives, fostering collaboration and buy-in
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior designers and cross teams, fostering a strong design culture
  • UI/UX Development
  • Lead design-related meetings with key stakeholders to ensure clarity of project goals and objectives and a consistent, cohesive user experience.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX Leadership and Engineering to develop informed design decisions for better outcomes.
  • Use HTML5/SCSS/JS compliant code to translate design solutions into interactive prototypes.
  • Advocate for the user with user-centered, empathetic design strategies.
  • Clearly communicate design decisions to peers and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum Process to quickly iterate through designs and gain approvals from key stakeholders.
  • Participate in usability testing.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of previous experience in UX design and development, Strong grasp of atomic design
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a solid grasp of design principles and HTML/SCSS mastery
  • Solid understanding of web best practices, information architecture, usability, heuristics and accessibility.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles.
  • Up to date with the latest web trends, techniques, and technologies.
  • Proficient in design tools including Figma is a plus.
  • Experience with facilitation/collaboration tools such as Jira, Miro, MS Teams.
  • Experience working with design systems.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Consistently meets required deadlines.
  • Comfortable working closely with other designers, project managers and developers.
  • An eagerness to grow as a team and open to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Agile / Scrum, particularly as related to modern development environments for web and mobile
  • Domain experience in data, analytics, insurance industry.
