Here's what you'd do:

  • We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, utility sector experience is a plus. This role will be responsible for overseeing the financials of our subsidiaries and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Financial Oversight: Manage and oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
    • Experience with Percent of Completion (POC) Accounting: Must be able apply POC accounting principles to track and report on long-term projects, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and cost allocation.
    • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Financial Reporting: Conduct thorough preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Cost Controls: Perform analysis on spending trends by drilling down on major cost categories. Be able to tell the story of changes and outliers with the relevant data.
    • Internal Controls: Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
    • Audit Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Process Improvement: Identify, implement and maintain process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role within the utility sector.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in POC accounting, financial reporting, and ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Independent Thinker: Have the willingness to identify and dive into new areas of focus to benefit the company.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
