Laboratory Research Technician III

Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.


Essential Functions
  • Prepare tissues for histological assessment; prepare paraffin slides; perform routine and special histological techniques - Purify RNA and DNA
  • Conduct PCR and molecular cloning/sub cloning experiments
  • Keep accurate records of all experiments organize data into graphs/charts for publication and preparation of grant proposals
  • Ordering of supplies for experiments; general maintenance of lab including autoclave glassware; clean lab benches; bleaching and washing of safety hoods and other surfaces that ae used for experiments.

Physical Effort

This position is primarily sedentary. Incumbent may be required to travel back and forth between various laboratory areas. Occasional lifting of reagent containers, placing buffers and solutions on shelves.
