Position Summary

This role provides technical support to manufacturing to ensure safe, efficient execution of work that meets engineering, quality, and productivity goals. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, interpreting engineering data (e.g., drawings, specifications), and supporting assembly and testing operations. The position will also participate in New Product Introductions, offer design-for-manufacturability recommendations, and collaborate with Quality on MRB activities, including managing non-conformance dispositions. Additionally, the role involves improving work processes, maintaining manufacturing master data in the ERP system, and designing tooling, jigs, and fixtures for efficient operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

ENGINEERING DRAWINGS

* Review engineering drawings to ensure manufacturability of assemblies (including product configuration based on customer requirements of hardware and software).
* Liaise with engineering to resolve issues with engineering documentation such as, missing parts on BOMs, wrong parts on BOMs, incomplete, or unclear drawings.
* Participate in product design reviews and new material evaluation.

STANDARD WORK

* Review and approve ECO/ECR's within PLM to insure proper workflow and support manufacturing in coordinating change management with all functional groups. Ensure changes are properly scoped, defined, and implemented for execution in manufacturing (including finished goods and work in progress).
* Orchestrate the implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and ensure proper deployment throughout all functional areas withing the value stream.
* Coordinate, develop, and maintain manufacturing planning for high complexity product portfolio (material master, bill of material, and manufacturing routers) aimed at meeting external/customer and internal/engineering requirements.
* Document and maintain standard work procedures and instructions.
* Collaborate with manufacturing functions to ensure standard work is implemented properly.
* Support Industrial Engineer to perform time and motion studies. Correct/update routers as necessary.
* Identify and implement safety and productivity improvements.

DESIGN TOOLING, JIGS, AND FIXTURES

* Design tooling jigs, and fixtures as needed to support safe efficient work.

o Work with sourcing and/or machine shop to procure.
o Write work instructions and train employees on proper use of fixtures, etc.

ADDITIONAL

* Assist with implementation of lean manufacturing principles across assigned work areas including 6S, Standard Work, MDI boards, Visual management, Value stream mapping, benchmarking, Work cell design, inventory flow, and other Operational Excellence objectives.
* Demonstrate and teach company policies on operating standards, safety, maintenance, quality, and cost control.
* Review ECR, ECO, NCR, B.O.M, drawings to ensure design for manufacturability.
* Lead Cost Improvement activities throughout assigned work areas.
* Maintain good working relations, coordinate/ integrate with shop personnel, write reports.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

* Mechanical or electrical engineering bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
* Five years manufacturing experience within manufacturing operations (primarily assembly and testing of highly engineered products).
* Minimum 1 year of experience with either AutoCAD or Solid Works.
* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex drawings (ASME for mechanical drawings).
* Use standard Office software such as Microsoft: Word, Excel, and Power Point.

DESIRED

* Ten years of experience in manufacturing operations (primarily assembly and testing of highly engineered products).
* Training or hands-on experience in Operational Excellence fundamentals including 6S, Standard Work, Visual Management.
* Prior experience with hydraulic systems operation and troubleshooting.
* Demonstrated experience with Enovia (PLM software).
