Position Summary
This position is a principal contributor in developing specific research project requirements and is responsible for all aspects of the project from development through delivery. Perform complex study and data collection methods. May coordinate and direct the work and research tasks of other research staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Principal Investigator, conceptualize, develop, implement and maintain the methodologies and operating structure of a multi-year research project involving the improvement of health equity for children with developmental delays and disabilities from marginalized communities.
  • Lead the management of the day-to-day research activities involving a variety of aspects of the grant, including IRB protocols associated with the recruitment and retention of participants and the providers associated with the project as well as the data collection methodologies and data management, under direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners, including but not limited to: Co-Investigators, Mile Square Health Centers, UI Health providers, Chicago Public Schools, Equip for Equality.
  • Provide data management and detailed data analysis with the Principal Investigator and other participating researchers to meet the overall goals of the funding agency.
  • Provide detailed reports, as necessary, as to the progress of the projects, including information involving research data, financial functions and communication activities in accordance with the aims of the study. Make recommendations for adjustments to any of the primary functional areas of the projects, when required, to ensure the successful completion of the research agenda.
  • Prepare data for dissemination and further sharing as to the results of the study and assist in projects findings by participating in the development and writing of detailed manuscripts and potential presentation at conferences.
  • Write IRB protocols associated with the studies, draft data collection materials, recruitment materials and ensure regulatory compliance with all studies in portfolio.
  • Assist with pre-award submissions including but not limited to, coordinating with Co-I's, stakeholders and external collaborators. Assist in finding and searching for new grant research funding opportunities.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required. Master's degree in social science preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years related research experience.
    • Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
    • Familiarity with the EPIC, REDCap, Ring Central, and Tango systems.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Educational background in maternal and child care.
    • Knowledge about federal and Illinois IEP processes and laws.
    • Mixed methods research experience (surveys, interviews, focus groups).
    • Knowledge and experience working with local departments of public health and community organizations, including Chicago Public Schools.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Strong writing and communication skills.
