We are looking for students who have done well in their classes and are excited to help their peers in a variety of subjects, especially math and science, for Fall 2024. Prior experience with tutoring is appreciated, but not required. Applicants will be asked to indicate which subject areas they are applying to be STEM Tutors for. Potential STEM Tutors should have earned a B or higher in the courses that they are applying to tutor. Preference will be given to applicants who can tutor a wide variety of courses.Work Study Award is preferred, but not required. STEM Tutors are expected to: Collaborate with learners to enhance learner confidence, responsibility, and interdependence Communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and a diverse student body Maintain high ethical standards and protect the confidentiality of learners and coworkers as required by FERPA regulations Ensure and maintain a welcoming, judgment-free environment for learners Attend and participate in tutor education training as outlined by the College of Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) curriculum, typically scheduled on Fridays by Zoom Minimum Qualifications Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
