Monitors and enforces radiation protection for the rad techs and patients, do QA audits, ensures DHEC and other standards. Workswith practices to reduce cost and standardize equipment and service contracts.
Essential Functions

Provides supervision for radiology services within Prisma Health practices by directing and coordinating the services of radiology and diagnostic imaging procedures, overseeing staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-Ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI's. Orients and trains all new Radiology Technologists within the Prisma Health departments and ensures department competency and regulatory compliance. Documents operation training for competency and provides feedback for yearly performance reviews. Implements new techniques, equipment and procedures. Enforces and monitors policy of radiation protection for patients and rad tech with use of lead aprons, gloves, badges and shielding. Responsible for operative standards by contributing information to strategic plan to improve productivity, quality, resolving problems and identify system improvements. Responsible for QA, QC and QI projects. Conducts audits of quality of images, compliance with ALARA, DHEC and radiology standards. Assists with guidance on equipment needs and maintenance within Prisma Health practices. Provides annual budget information, monitor radiology expenditures within the practices, evaluates equipment longevity, determines need for upgrades, and evaluates contracts for service and purchasing. Responsible for working with PACS Administrators, RIS, radiologist and Director and Manager of Radiology Services. Represents Prisma Health at radiology specific committee meetings Facilitates continuing education and provides performance feedback to radiology services staff. Serves as a resource for all physician practice radiology issues. Assist practices in preparing for DHEC audits and action planning where appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a supervisor job which may have direct supervision of team members which may include hire/termination authority, disciplinary authority, and performance management responsibilities.May have budget input or responsibilities. Job is not considered a member of management staff.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Associate degree. Allied Health Experience - Five (5)years as CT Technologist, MRI Technologist,Radiology Technologist and/or Sonographer
