I. JOB OVERVIEW


Job Description Summary:
Under the direction of the Director, Operations and Projects, the Program Coordinator, OVPR position supports the priorities of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research. This position works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in support of OVPR priorities. Strong interpersonal skills, tact and discretion, excellent customer relations, and experience working with senior leaders are essential for a successful candidate. This administrative position requires the ability to complete multiple tasks with competing priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing support for the Office of the Vice Provost for Research initiatives and projects as directed, organizing and maintaining records and performing other administrative tasks. This may include website creation and/or maintenance, supporting user queries for OVPR applications, spearheading administrative and project management support for major research events and trainings, conducting best practice research, developing draft policies, operating procedures, guidance and proposals, documenting and analyzing workflows to identify process improvements, etc. Prepare meeting materials, project plans and/or executive updates related to special projects, programs and initiatives.
  • Following guidance from the Vice Provost for Research and Senior Associate Vice Provost for Research, this position will coordinate major annual events and programs, including but not limited to, Research Showcase. Works with other GW offices to facilitate meetings, develop materials, establish goals and objectives, ensure deadlines are being met, coordinate logistics, communicate information to the university community, etc.
  • Communicates and interacts regularly with faculty, staff, and students on a variety of matters, including providing information and specific responses to urgent and sensitive issues. Provides a high level of customer service with a deep focus on quality and problem solving.
  • Participates in regular staff and other meetings as a member of OVPR's Central Operations team. Act as backup support for executive administrators in managing executive calendars, managing other administrative tasks and providing overall administrative support to OVPR.


Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Strong administrative experience and organizational skills.
  • Strong large event management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively prioritize and manage time.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, Drupal.
  • Experience providing executive support in an academic environment.
  • A strong work ethic, proactive, professionalism, and commitment to integrity highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data research, multitask and effectively prioritize and manage time.

Hiring Range $51,455.52 - $70,708.76
