THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an immediate opening in Greenville, South Carolina for an Analytical Chemist whose responsibilities include contributing to the development, adaptation, and industrialization of chemical or physical measurements and methods. The applicant will apply various analytical instruments to deliver quality results for research, development, and manufacturing. Experience in FTIR and HPLC analysis desired.

Situated in Greenville, South Carolina, the sprawling Michelin Americas Research Center (MARC) campus is home to approximately 650 talented employees, including materials researchers, product designers, scientists, engineers, test technicians and individuals in a variety of support roles.

Our team contributes to crafting, testing, and industrializing the innovative products that earn Michelin's deserving place as one of the world's leading tire manufacturers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Analytical Testing: Perform a diverse set of primary and advanced analytical testing using equipment like FTIR, HPLC, GC, SEM, and other chemical techniques.
  • Provide well written documentation, data review and reporting.
  • Follow current methods, develop new methods, write standard operating procedures, and conduct characterization studies to ensure method performance.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, as well as other cross-functional teams to ensure results meet project time and quality expectations.
  • Perform all activities in accordance with safety policies and requirements, including wearing necessary and appropriate protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment
  • Work with other departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Lead/Participate in quality planning for products, materials, processes, and methods.
  • Draw logical conclusions based on in depth analysis of samples, data and information.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Material/Polymer Science, or related scientific field and 1-5 years' experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with external partners, suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical chemistry skills, including attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, SEM, HPLC, GC, using various software packages.
  • Capable of safely handling and disposing of chemicals.
  • Excellent use of scientific method, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
