LSSI is hiring afull-timeYouth WORKS Prevention Specialist, MondaythroughFriday. Under the direction of the supervisor, provide prevention services and education to youth and community members, while following LSSI policies.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide classroom instruction of an IDHS approved evidence-based prevention curriculum to students in partnering schools.
  • Attend community events and activities focused on prevention, while also referring youth to needed services. Occasional evening and weekend hours are expected for community events.
  • Complete and submit all necessary reports and documentation accurately and on time, per LSSI policy and IDHS grant requirements.
  • Attend and facilitate community meetings to address comprehensive ways to meet identified prevention goals.
  • Effectively conduct educational presentations to community members of all ages.
  • Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner.
Position Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Background check clearance, both criminal and CANTS required.
  • One year of experience working with youth preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience of community resources preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally work evening and weekend hours for community events or program activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organization, presentation and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • Valid driver's license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
  • Access to reliable transportation required.
  • Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage required.
