Barron County 4-H Program Assistant

Job Summary:

This part time position provides support to Barron County 4-H, working alongside the 4-H Educator at the Barron County Extension office located at the Eau Claire Barron County Campus in Rice Lake, WI. There will be some weekend and evening hours required, as well as opportunities to work a flexible schedule, up to an average of 16 hours per week. This position will help with implementing and magnifying programming, event planning and helping to maintain a support system for sustainable programming for the Barron County 4-H program.

Responsibilities:
Instructs and/or assists individuals and families engaged in various outreach programs. Delivers research-based educational programs to support and empower people where they live and work. Provides general support on public issues for the benefit of the community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.

  • 10% Teaches culturally relevant educational programs to adults and youth using learner-centered activities and lessons
  • 30% Implements initiatives and events that serve the target audience
  • 15% Procures and maintains course materials and supplies
  • 10% Tracks program evaluation and incorporates feedback for improvement
  • 15% Helps design marketing materials and promotions for programs
  • 5% Communicate plans, activities and achievements to 4H Program Educator, Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners and relevant stakeholders
  • 15% Collects, analyzes, prepares and communicates programmatic data, organizational information and resources from established sources

Qualifications:

Required:
-Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed
-Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality work
-Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology
-Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision
-Capacity in wide range of communication tools and technical platforms such as: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Canva, and website management platforms
-Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity

Preferred:
-Ability to develop and design high-quality, visually appealing graphic materials
-Ability and desire to learn and manage new technology platforms
-Strong familiarity with 4-H programming
-Work experience relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position
-Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

This position will be variable hours but will not exceed 40% FTE or 16 hours per week.
