Master the art of Blackjack and Craps. Conquer the classics! We'll arm you with the skills to deal blackjack and craps, prepare you to excel at your audition and earn a part-time role dealing games at the MGM National Harbor.

THE STARTING RATE: $15 per hour

ORIENTATION INFORMATION:

Before starting the training on January 28th, there will be a mandatory paid orientation session on Monday, January 27th, 2024, at 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. This is a required step for all candidates and will provide an overview of the program and what to expect.

CLASS TIMES OFFERED:

  • 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • 4:00 pm - 12:00 am

SKILLS OFFERED:

  • Blackjack
  • Craps

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Learning terms like 'shooter', 'come out roll', 'point', 'pass line', 'don't pass', and 'odds bets'.
  • Familiarize with the craps table layout, including where bets are placed for pass lines, don't pass lines, come bets, don't come bets, and field bets.
  • Learn the proper way to handle and inspect the dice, ensuring fair play. Learn the stickperson's responsibilities, including managing the dice and calling the game.
  • Going over how to take and pay bets, convert payoffs, and manage the chips on the table. Learn how to calculate payouts for various bets and understanding the odds associated with each.
  • Learn how to manage the table's bankroll, including chip stacks and transaction records. Learn the importance of game security, watching for cheating, and maintaining integrity.
  • Learning how to interact with players and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensure understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of the game. Learn how to troubleshoot common issues, such as mispays or disputes. Practice drills to improve speed and accuracy in dealing and payouts.
  • Engage in role-playing exercises to develop soft skills necessary for interacting with customers, maintaining a professional demeanor, and handling difficult situations.
  • Participate in simulations that mimic real-world casino scenarios, where trainees deal to each other and instructors, managing the flow of the game and practicing real-time customer interactions.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Excellent in complex math.
  • Has a strong presence or impressive demeanor.
  • Ability to attend all training classes.
  • Enjoys helping others and likes to make a good impression.
  • Works well under pressure.

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum - Maximum

$15.00 - $21.04

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Should overtime be worked, employees are paid overtime pay in accordance with state requirements.
