Responsibilities

The Regional Director of Clinical Pharmacy provides leadership, direction, oversight, and coordination of comprehensive clinical pharmacy practice across the designated region of hospitals. Provides leadership, mentorship, supervision, and coordination for the Group Managers-Clinical Pharmacy and Clinical Coordinators in the designated region and is responsible for the growth and development of clinical pharmacy programs and services. This role develops and implements region-wide clinical goals and initiatives that promote desirable patient outcomes using safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapies as well as uniform clinical practice and innovative staffing models. Acts as the Pharmacy Chair for the System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and provides oversight to its subcommittees; this position also serves as an integral part of the system pharmacy and system clinical leadership teams through provision of clinical pharmacy expertise and resources needed by various clinical teams throughout the care continuum. Develops comprehensive strategies to establish, maintain, and expand pharmacy residency training programs and other pharmacy education programs throughout the designated region. The Regional Director of Clinical Pharmacy ensures alignment with the mission, values and objectives of the department and organization and collaborates with the VP Pharmacy Services, other Regional Directors, and Managers regarding clinical pharmacy initiatives and services to develop standards for clinical pharmacy practices, therapeutic monitoring services, pharmacy-driven protocols, cost-saving initiatives, and innovative staffing models.



Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Required qualifications:

    Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
  1. B.S. in Pharmacy or PharmD degree required
  2. PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency required (significant experience may be considered in lieu of residency)
  3. 5 years of previous progressive Pharmacy leadership roles (i.e., Clinical Coordinator, Manager, Director) required.
  4. 7 years of previous work experience in a hospital or health system, with experience managing and/or developing formularies, drug utilization analyses, and medication safety required.
  5. Board Certification in a specialty area governed by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties required.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Preferred qualification:

  1. Pharmacy management experience at corporate, regional or multihospital level preferred.
  2. MBA or MHA preferred.
  3. Experience with oversight and/or establishment of pharmacy residency programs (PGY1 and/or PGY2) preferred.
