Description

The Burlington operation in Raeford, NC has been proudly producing dress uniform fabric for the US Military for more than 50 years. If you or someone you know has ever served in the US Military, whether in the Army, Air force, Coast Guard, Navy or Marines, they have worn Burlington Raeford fabric.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Manager to oversee the quality control and testing processes at our textile yarn manufacturing facility. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring that yarn products meet stringent quality standards, identifying and resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement in production processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in yarn manufacturing, lab testing, and process optimization. This position requires the ability to work closely with various manufacturing teams, set quality standards, and lead troubleshooting efforts across multiple labs and production lines.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Quality Oversight:


    • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control standards for yarn manufacturing processes to ensure that all products meet customer specifications and industry standards.
    • Oversee multiple laboratory operations, ensuring that testing procedures are consistent, accurate, and aligned with quality objectives.
    • Manage a team of lab technicians and quality personnel, providing guidance and support as needed to troubleshoot quality issues and maintain product consistency.


  • Testing & Lab Management:


    • Supervise and conduct various lab tests (e.g., tensile strength, elongation, yarn count, twist, moisture content) to evaluate raw materials, in-process yarn, and finished products.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of test results, addressing any discrepancies or non-conformance issues.
    • Lead continuous improvements to testing methods and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.


  • Process Control & Improvement:


    • Collaborate with production teams to set quality standards for each stage of the yarn manufacturing process, from fiber preparation to winding and packaging.
    • Identify root causes of quality issues and lead cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions, process adjustments, and preventive measures.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections of manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality protocols.


  • Data Analysis & Reporting:


    • Analyze data from production, testing, and quality reports to identify trends, areas of improvement, and potential risks to product quality.
    • Prepare and present regular quality reports to management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives.
    • Recommend process improvements, equipment upgrades, or training programs based on data analysis and quality audits.


  • Training & Development:


    • Develop and conduct training programs for production staff, lab technicians, and other employees on quality standards, testing procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
    • Stay current with industry advancements, best practices, and technological innovations in yarn manufacturing and quality control.



Qualifications:



  • Education:


    • Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
    • Certifications in quality management or Six Sigma (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt) preferred.


  • Experience:


    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within a textile manufacturing environment, with a focus on yarn production and lab testing.
    • Proven experience in managing laboratory operations, quality audits, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Strong understanding of yarn manufacturing processes, including spinning, winding, and packaging.


  • Skills & Competencies:


    • Strong knowledge of textile testing methods and equipment (e.g., tensile testers, yarn evenness testers, moisture meters).
    • Expertise in root cause analysis, problem-solving, and troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment.
    • Data analysis skills and experience with statistical process control (SPC).
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to upholding high quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


  • Other Requirements:


    • Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and noise.
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
