About the Position

Global Solutions Ventures (GSV) - a joint-venture partnership betweenZemiTek, LLC and Dexis- is seeking aCommunications Specialistto support the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Inclusive Growth, Partnerships, and Innovation(IPI),Inclusive Development Hub(ID Hub). The ID Hub's mandate is to promote the rights and inclusion of marginalized and under-represented populations around the world in the development process, working across various technical areas to "combat stigma and discrimination, promote empowerment and inclusion of marginalized or underrepresented groups, and improve the lives of populations in high-risk situations."

USAID's ID Hub advances foreign assistance to be more responsive to the needs and priorities of people who are marginalized, underrepresented, or made vulnerable. The ID Hub serves as the Agency's leader in promoting integrated development approaches to ensure full social participation in the development process by all involved, specifically by promoting participation from the world's underrepresented, historically marginalized groups. The ID Hub's policies and efforts promote inclusion, equity, and protections for LGBTQI+ people, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, children in adversity and their families, victims of torture, youth, and marginalized racial and ethnic groups.

The Communications Specialist is a mid-level communication advisor that will work with theSenior Communications Advisor to plan and implement communications activities and produce communication products for the ID Hub. The Communications Specialist will be a member of this team based in Washington, DC and will require onsite work in the Inclusive Development Hub's office in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. This is a long-term position with an immediate start date.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the communications colleagues to plan and execute a range of communications deliverables highlighting ID programs and priorities.
  • Support technical specialists to produce internal and external communication products such as briefers and presentations.
  • Support technical specialists and USAID project staff to support the conceptualization, management, and implementation of virtual and in-person events.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate high-level events, including developing task lists and timelines for all aspects/facets of the event and communications, arranging logistics, drafting and finalizing communications materials, and providing post-event reporting.
  • Provide support for webinars and online events, including organizing and facilitating virtual events on a range of meeting platforms.
  • Draft, edit, develop, and manage the production of a variety of content, including both written and visual products, such as reports, newsletters, factsheets, press releases, presentations, and promotional content.
  • Create and gather content for social media toolkits and other social media for ID Hub and USAID flagship platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain pages for ID Hub sections of USAID's external and internal websites and/or the Children in Adversity (CECA) website.
  • Edit photos and/or create graphics and other visual content to enhance communication materials.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members and stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and branding across all USAID channels.
  • Contribute to addressing cross-cutting Inclusive Development Hub and Agency priorities, including advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) efforts.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' work experience in communications, public information, or media.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to summarize and distill large amounts of technical data and information into concise messaging for a particular audience.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and supporting virtual and in-person events, including those with high-level speakers or guests.
  • Experience with photo manipulation, graphics, and/or desktop publishing programs.
  • Experience with digital communication platforms (such as GovDelivery) and content management systems (such as WordPress).
  • Experience organizing, posting, and increasing the followings for social media accounts, such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Strong word processing skills and ability to navigate comfortably in an online file management environment.
  • Experience with Google Meets and/or other meeting/event platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, with a strong sense of initiative and responsibility.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically with a geographically and culturally diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of two days per week onsite at the project location, with flexibility to work additional days onsite as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain a USAID FAC or Secret clearance.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with USAID, other U.S. government agencies, or international development organizations.
  • Master's degrees in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field.
  • Experience using/following a range of style guides including Chicago Manual of Style, AP, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest in inclusive development, social justice, or engagement with historically marginalized groups.
  • Demonstrated interest in international development and foreign assistance.

Below is the pay range aligned with this position. When developing a range, Dexis evaluates compensation holistically, triangulating between external market research, our budget for the position, and internal equity to arrive at a figure that is fair and competitive. Offers within this range will be based on an individual candidate's qualification, relevant education and experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.

Dexis pay range for this role:
$73,000 $84,000 USD
