Hill International is seeking a Vice President-Operations in Seattle, WA

The Vice President-Operations will hold a strategic leadership role, responsible for driving the vision, operational efficiency, team culture and organizational success for the Pacific Northwest. You would be responsible for program and construction management projects with both public and private clients. Projects include a variety of infrastructure such as transportation (rail transit, airport, road and bridge) water/wastewater, higher education, healthcare facilities, mission critical, and federal government (GSA DOE DOD USACE). Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President-Western Region, you will work closely with the other operational leaders in the region to drive cross-functional alignment and achieve objectives and goals.

Operations Leadership:



  • Manage and direct the profitability of the Pacific Northwest area, with a focus on the Puget Sound region of Western Washington, leading the organization toward its primary objectives based on long-term growth and development
  • Manage all Area operations including strategic planning and department budget
  • Develop, track and manage annual budget for the Area
  • Guide, authorize, and implement the major plans and procedures consistent with the goals of the company


Strategic Development:



  • Support business development efforts through opportunity identification, client relationship development, developing pursuit strategy and executing on proposal efforts
  • Build partnerships and lead collaborative discussions with external audiences, including working flexibly and creatively with a diverse cross-section of clients/potential clients, subcontractors, and industry professionals
  • Provide project oversight to ensure excellent service to our clients
  • Participate in professional and community organizations that enhance the exposure and goals of the company


Talent Leadership and Development:



  • Manage, develop and strengthen a team of 40+ professional staff in the Pacific Northwest area
  • Meet with employees and create performance goals, provide coaching, mentoring and training opportunities
  • Recruit and hire staff that augment the pursuit of the strategic goals for the Area


Cross-functional Collaboration:



  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal support groups including, but not limited to, Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, IT, and Legal departments
  • Coordinate with adjacent business units within the Western Region on shared resources and new business pursuits


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction from an accredited college or university, graduate degree a plus.
  • 15+ years of experience in the architectural/engineering/construction management industry
  • Must have experience with local capital development clients in Western Washington, with a preference for WSDOT, Sound Transit, King County, Port of Seattle, and municipal agencies
  • Preference for hands-on experience managing a major business unit
  • Experience in growing operation and capturing market share
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence teams at all levels and clearly articulate goals, priorities and opportunities for improvement
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead and inspire project teams to deliver successful client and project outcomes
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to asses a complex assortment of facts and interpersonal dynamics, understand the companies current state and goals and choose the best choice of action


The salary range for this position is $250,000-$285,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
