How You'll Perform the Role

The Assistant Production Supervisor assists the Production Supervisor in all manufacturing processes and procedures. Will take charge of the shift in Production Supervisor's absence. Will assist Production Supervisor in maintaining daily production paperwork and AX production reporting. Will monitor daily shift operations and inform Production Supervisor of potential issues. Works in collaboration with employees, and management team to enforce safety and quality policies and procedures as dictated by company's handbook. Responsible for training new employees when Production Supervisor is not available. The Assistant Production Supervisor will occasionally perform same labor functions as the workers being supervised.




  1. Provides assistance to shift Production Supervisor in all manufacturing processes and procedures
  2. Oversees production to identify any production or equipment issues
  3. Assists in maintaining production paperwork for designated shift
  4. Will train new personnel on existing production protocol, safety and plant equipment
  5. Enforces company safety policies and procedures
  6. Assists Production Supervisor in observing daily shift operations and reports any new developments or concerns
  7. Complies with Heritage Bag's policies and procedures and safety requirements
  8. Oversees production quality to ensure exceptional finished products
  9. Oversee lead personnel
  10. Regularly communicates with maintenance staff about repair and maintenance needs of plant equipment
  11. Works with HR Specialist on new hires, terminations, and disciplinary actions
  12. Coordinates plant activities with Production Supervisor to ensure total plant manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner
  13. Works with Production Supervisor and HR Specialist to track and minimize labor overtime
  14. Encourages others to keep injuries and waste to a minimum
  15. The assistant supervisors may be called upon to assist in providing training and supervision assistance on other plant shifts based upon prevailing plant priorities and needs.
  16. Assists in maintaining AX production reporting for designated shift
  17. The assistant supervisors will be included in the overtime resource pool to cover opposite shift leadership coverage as needed.
  18. Will occasionally perform labor functions as needed.
  19. May perform other duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent. Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. ; Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required. Five to ten years of direct blown film processing and troubleshooting experience preferred. High level of discretion, confidentiality, and work ethics. Able to effectively communicate. Ability to successfully multitask in a fast pace environment. Willing to be certified in CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Manufacturing work environment. Constant physical activities are required for this position. Such activities include: ability to reach over head, squat, and bend at the waist; the ability to lift boxes of 60 lbs or more; ability to climb up and down stairs throughout a 12 hour shift; tolerance of standing posture continuously for 12 hours; intense walking is involved; able to tolerate working environment with inside excessive hot and cold temperatures.
