Senior Financial Analyst
Job Summary The ZSFG Division of the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to manage a highly complex ~$25M clinical, research, education, and gift portfolio. The financial analyst will independently manage or oversee the management of over 70 funds including developing and monitoring annual budgets, preparing monthly financial reports, monitoring revenues and expenses, identifying risks and errors and taking corrective action, and ensuring compliance with UC, ZSFG, and funder requirements. This individual will also manage complex and frequently evolving funding distributions for over 30 faculty and staff and will oversee academic allowance funds for 20+ faculty. They will support clinical faculty in preparing proposals for external funding for clinical, research, and education initiatives and will provide post-award support for contracts and grants supporting clinical and education programs. The analyst will suggest strategies for revenue generation and also play a key role in the division's cash management, purchasing approvals, recharge administration, journal entry, UC Path funding entry and salary cost transfer, and monthly general ledger verification processes. This individual must use advanced professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. They will work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors and must exercise exceptional judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Contacts are both internal and external to the department at all levels. The analyst must develop and maintain strong working relationships with the division faculty and staff, funders, Ob-Gyn Chair's office, UCSF Deans' office at ZSFG, UCSF Controller's Office, UCSF Office of Sponsored Research, UCSF Supply Chain Management, UCSF Development Office, San Francisco Department of Public Health partners, and the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. This position supervises a Financial Analyst 3 and a Financial Services Analyst 2 . They report to and work in close collaboration with the Division's Senior Director of Finance and Administratio The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $109,300 - $163,900 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Reproductive Sciences (ObGyn & RS) is a major academic department in the School of Medicine committed to providing quality health care services, educating health care providers and investigators, and conducting research to advance knowledge in our field. The Department is nationally recognized for research and training in women's health care specialties. This position is based at the Department's San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) Division, a large teaching, research, and clinical site. The SFGH Division of Ob-Gyn & RS is home to ~40 faculty, 8 non-faculty academics, and 110 staff; fellows, residents, and other trainees; and the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any area and/or equivalent experience/training
- At least 5 years of experience in financial management, financial planning and analysis, or related field
- Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources
- Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
- In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization, including a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies; advanced service
- orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to function as a member of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with partners and constituents

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in finance, accounting, business, public health, health care administration, or related field
- 2 + years lead/supervisor/manager experience supervising others' work and managing performance
- Experience with PLUS, UC Path, PeopleSoft, and/or other financial management systems
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. managing performance.
