Job Summary

The duration of this temporary role is approximately 3 months.
The Analyst is a key member of the finance team tasked with the duties of performing all general ledger verifications for all funds managed and overseen by the Dean's Office. It is pertinent that ledgers are verified on a timely basis so that errors are discovered and corrected in advance to it becoming undetectable through the passage of time. Ledger verification is an important financial control that helps detect and prevent erroneous or inappropriate transactions from occurring. The Analyst is also tasked with the responsibility and ownership of creating and processing all journal entries for the Dean's Office. This includes all types of PeopleSoft online journals as well as paper journals for payroll expense transfers. The Analyst is responsible for ensuring the journals are prepared in the correct forms and in compliance to all policies and procedures set forth for each type of journal. The Analyst monitors all purchasing, accounts payable and check request activities for the Dean's Office. This includes reimbursement requests, travel and entertainment requests, invoice processing, and speedchart/type set-ups.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of accounting function and assignments. Ability to independently gather, organize, and perform accounting-related analysis to complete work assignments. Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing. Thorough knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements. Thorough knowledge of common desktop / web applications. Thorough knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting projects of moderate to semi-complex scope.
