IT Specialist Domain Administrator, MTCCS

Fort Johnson, Louisiana (FJLA)

ATS is seeking a qualified Information Technology Specialist Domain Administrator to support the Fort Johnson, Louisiana (FJLA) Mission Training Complex (MTC) Contract with Simulation/Stimulation training support. Support to the Fort Johnson Berry MTC shall include integrated individual and collective Mission Command (MC) staff training and exercise via live, virtual and constructive modeling and simulations (e.g., Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC)) for home station, mission planning and rehearsal, and pre-deployment training ranging from platoon up to Combined Joint Task Forces (CJTF) levels with its Areas of Operations, to include Constructive and Gaming support to Title 10 Army training, Joint Training Plan (JTP), Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) engagement plan, Mission Rehearsals, Joint Interagency, Intergovernmental and Multinational (JIIM), and other multinational training are critical support elements for the Fort Johnson Berry MTC.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:



  • Maintain systems operations of all MTC servers to include virtual servers.
  • Performa system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems.
  • Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups.
  • Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access.
  • Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses.
  • May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and during exercises.
  • Develops and executes recovery plans to fully restore operations.
  • Plans must include the rebuild/restoration of files with a high degree of integrity.
  • The recovery techniques applicable to the standard systems are broad and encompass a wide range of IT actions such as:
  • The analysis of multiple problems involving hardware, software, and application program malfunctions, involving several applications, and consisting of many files.
  • Evaluation of mission applications involving several alternatives recovery methods.
  • The ability to read and analyze core dumps.
  • Responsible for the management of Window Server, Lovable Intellect Not Using XP (Linux), and Virtual Machine Software (VMware) virtualization, along with related endpoint devices.
  • Responsible for executing the Change Management process, ensuring timely, efficient, and non-disruptive delivery of services to the Mission and Data collection systems used by the MTC.
  • Ensure the optimum operation and security of systems and quality of services are not compromised as new systems are integrated and upgraded into the existing architecture.
  • Analyze various problems and recommend correctable solutions that arise when server, application and databases fail or become degraded.
  • Resolve system support problems of an unprecedented or controversial nature.
  • Provide system administration support for in-house Enterprise Management and software delivery system used by the MTC to provide support in monitoring and managing servers and user PC's.
  • Provide guidance to functional elements relating to processing constraints, file securities and changes to normal processing trends.
  • Provide information and guidance to IT personnel on the capabilities and utilization of all operating systems and applications.
  • Represent the MTC as part of a Configuration Control Board (CCB) for technical problems, recommendations, and enhancements.
  • Attend technical seminars to exchange information and keep abreast of new and changing IT methods and techniques.
  • Ensure the established information security policies, principles, and practices for Combat Communications Access Device systems are adhered to by following Federal Law, RMF NIST Security Controls, DoD directives, ARs and Best Business Practice such as STIGs.
  • Analyzes operating systems and applications to include Windows Server, LINUX, and VMware.
  • Analyzes failures to isolate the source of the problem(s) and determines if the failure is caused by integrated hardware, software, and or application programs to include source code.
  • Troubleshoots problem(s) to determine mission impact and makes recommended corrective actions.
  • Prepare an expedient plan for recovery based upon the impact, time of day, day of the week, etc.
  • Analysis must encompass the activity of multiple computers, the use of alternate resources, and typically requires coordination with various organizations, functional personnel, and other IT technical specialist.


Required Qualifications:



  • The appropriate DOD 8570.01-M baseline certifications as an IAT level II.
  • Minimum BA or BS degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Eight or more years' experience.
  • Requires knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network troubleshooting and support, operating systems and applications and network management.
  • A working knowledge of current technologies and products for MTC services and security.


Clearance: Requires a Secret Security clearance

Location: Fort Johnson, LA

Travel: Some travel may be required
