Click for a complete list of Employee Benefits: https://www.hr.uillinois.edu/benefits Description: The Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition in the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications from candidates with an interest and established track record of conducting interdisciplinary and collaborative research in the area of exercise physiology with an emphasis in cardiovascular exercise physiology for a tenure-track faculty position. Start-up support and teaching load will be highly competitive. The position is a nine-month appointment that will begin on August 16, 2025. Rank/tenure will be commensurate with qualifications. Faculty in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition maintain highly productive lines of research supported by funding from federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and Department of Defense, as well as various industries and foundations. Department strengths include research exercise physiology, exercise psychology, biomechanics, and nutrition. The Department capitalizes on resources from several well-equipped laboratories, including the Integrative Physiology Laboratory which supports world-class research on cardiovascular exercise physiology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program and demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and mentoring. Duties will include successfully competing for external funding, teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing to the department's mission and vision. Intradepartmental collaborations with nutrition, and interdepartmental collaborations with units such as physical therapy, nursing, public health, or medicine, are encouraged. The successful candidate will have an established track record of, or will have demonstrated the potential for, interdisciplinary and collaborative research in the area of exercise physiology with an emphasis in cardiovascular exercise physiology. The candidate's research should complement or expand departmental strengths in the areas of chronic disease (e.g., cancer and obesity), chronic conditions involving mobility (e.g., multiple sclerosis or osteoarthritis), or disability (e.g., intellectual disability) across the lifespan.
