Job Description:

The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking an infectious diseases (ID) board-certified or board-eligible clinical faculty member for a full-time faculty position in our Division. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Medicine in the HS Clinical series commensurate with qualifications and interests.

The new faculty member will play key roles in the HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine Division's ID and HIV clinical operations. The new faculty member will become an integral member of the ZSFG ID clinic team and will provide direct patient care in the San Francisco General Hospital outpatient ID Clinic, a multifaceted operation serving needs spanning all aspects of general ID. Clinical service will include caring for patients via our outpatient IV antibiotics program, our ID-Long COVID program, and at our affiliated site at Laguna Honda Hospital. Faculty member will also work with our inpatient ID consult service at San Francisco General Hospital. In addition, faculty member will serve as an HIV specialist and HIV primary care physician in the Ward 86 HIV Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital, a large federally qualified health center (FQHC) serving a diverse array of patients with HIV. Faculty member will have opportunities to work on HIV quality improvement (QI) operations at Ward 86 if interested. Finally, the faculty member will serve as a clinical educator within our division, supervising and teaching infectious diseases and HIV fellows, residents, and students within our programs, and developing expertise with disseminating ID/HIV knowledge and practices.

Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are salaried appointees in the health sciences who conduct and deliver patient care, teach trainees, and participate in scholarly and/or creative activities, as well as in university and/or public service activities. Faculty members in this series teach the application of basic and clinical sciences to patient care and pursue mastery of clinical procedures in all areas concerned with patient care.

Required qualifications:

* M.D. or D.O. and board certification in Internal Medicine by the ABIM.

* Board certification or board eligibility in Infectious Diseases by the ABIM.

* Demonstrates excellent clinical knowledge and skills, practice organization, and documentation practices.

* Demonstrates excellent communication skills.

* Demonstrates passion for medical education.

* Familiarity and experience with both general infectious diseases and HIV medicine principles.

Preferred qualifications:

* Proficiency with Epic Systems software.

* Spanish language proficiency.

* Experience in medical education including lectures and other types of knowledge dissemination.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $127,000-$333,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
