Job Purpose

Developing and executing product and business strategy in a world of rapid technological and social change requires a highly capable, highly knowledgeable, and highly engaged team. American Honda's Sustainability & Business Development (SBD) business unit (BU) is tasked with navigating the business and technology application path for Honda's future renewable energy, resource circulation and innovative business initiative products, services, and businesses. Our focus is to establish an ecosystem of hardware, software, and renewable energy that achieves these goals by focusing on real-world user experience. By providing solutions to users that are intuitive, generate value for users in terms of time savings, money savings, and enriching their lives we can expand and deepen our relationship with each customer. The team will focus on building and sustaining Honda's core brand values and enhancing brand image and competitiveness in the marketplace by innovating, incubating, selecting, developing, applying, and operating new businesses, features, products, and services with responsibility for their profitability, competitiveness, and customer satisfaction for Honda in North America.

Focusing on best-in-class product, company profitability, as well as regulatory compliance supporting the operation and providing new value to the Customer, the Dealer, and AHM , the unit leader supports tasked plans, executes, and reports on all operational and product aspects of the energy business. Executing on responsibility is a mandatory requirement to adhere to AHM's compliance requirements and manage the sustainability of the businesses. This requires frequent coordination and review of wide-ranging information, along with regular communication with external business partners providers, HM, Product Planning, Service, Quality, Sales, Finance, HNA Law, and other pertinent business units.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leader to ensure all products/services in-market are operating at levels meeting customer needs. The associate must lead the collection of market data, organizing and analyzing the data, and clearly identifying the market quality trend. Utilizing the market data, the associate must provide direction to the development team for quick fix resolution to minimize customer impact. Works with business and product owners to lead, propose, implement market action, including communication and success.
  • Utilizing the understanding of customer needs, lead in creating and managing operational procedures. Upon creation of the procedures, the associate must ensure proper implementation, operations and measure the effectiveness. Must propose improvements in process to continue improvement of efficiency in operation.
  • Lead coordinator with internal customers and third party service providers to resolve connected product and connected service issues. This includes research to completely understand the issue, creating a actionable resolution through analysis of various options, and obtaining approval for action. The associate must ensure adherence to the plan by all stakeholders, as well as obtain legal, regulator clearance and manage budget spending.
  • Thoroughly identify and understanding the market quality issues, contribute and act as the voice of customer to ensure changes are made for future products and operational procedures. This associate must act as a leader of change management projects and process.
  • Unit leadership of small team in Business Operations. Responsible for guiding team to develop reporting and metrics, developing people for professional growth and the administrative tasks associated with people management.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Marketing, Market Research, Business or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years of deep understanding of customer technology and connected customer solutions
  • 10 years of experience with infotainment, connected, financial, or energy research
  • 10 years of experience in strategy and roadmap development
  • Excellent research, technical writing, communication, financial and presentation skills
  • Strong program and project management experience
  • Ability to think big picture and out of the box
  • Experience in presenting at Executive level meetings
  • Honda specific knowledge across all product lines
  • 1+ year team leadership or supervisory skills or equivalent
  • Strong proficiency with MS office is required, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong presenter and confident interacting with all levels of management and executives
  • Excellent teamwork skills for both North America and Global Offices and employees
  • Driver's license required and ability to operate a diverse assortment of automobiles. Proficiency with manual transmission is preferred but not required.
  • Function in an agile project team as a product owner/LPL, Scrum Master/ALPL, or person-in-charge of a functional area for a project

Working Conditions

  • 40% desk work using laptop and phone, including conference calls, communicating, reading and responding to emails, reading contracts, etc.
  • 35% meetings
  • 25% preparing for and reporting to management
  • 3 days office and 2 days remote
