Opening: Part-time

Part-Time Shift: 3rd Shift (Midnight - 8 AM, Sunday and Monday)

Location: Greater Lowell

Organization: Community Teamwork

Compensation: Starting at $20.59 per hour + $3.00 Shift Differential for 3rd shift

Work Schedule: 16 hours per week

Residential Counselors are responsible for the day-to-day interactions with participants at the shelter site, ensuring the smooth functioning of the facility during assigned shifts, maintaining the safety and security of the building, and conducting intakes of participants per program policy. The Residential Counselor position is an excellent opportunity to enter the human service field and receive comprehensive training and professional development.

Responsibilities:

As a Residential Counselor, you will:



  • Ensure the safety of guests and the site.
  • Enforce rules and regulations to ensure smooth operation of the site.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, document appropriately, and communicate according to established guidelines.
  • Complete the intake process for new guests.
  • Provide support and structure, addressing guest/resident problems or concerns.
  • Initiate crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Record documentation as required by program guidelines.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Monitor security cameras.
  • Communicate concerns regarding behaviors, health, and safety to appropriate staff/personnel.
  • Monitor entry to the site and manage telephones professionally.
  • Maintain the privacy of resident/guest information in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain professional boundaries.
  • Complete all shift tasks according to program guidelines.
  • Conduct inspections as required by guidelines.


Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of community resources for low-income individuals and families.
  • Empathy and understanding of homelessness and related issues.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, volunteers, donors, and participants.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in basic computer software and data collection systems.
  • Strong crisis management skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Haitian-Creole, English/Khmer, English/Portuguese) preferred.
