Job Objective(s)

The Server is responsible for providing dining and table services to residents in the community's dining rooms and designated areas in accordance with Gentle Touch standards. The Server is responsible for serving as a role model in providing dining service and assisting training care managers, maintaining proper dining room set up, assisting in special events, monitoring appropriate checklists in support of the dining area cleanliness and readiness standards and assisting in table top inventories maintenance. Responsible for handling all food and beverages in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards and complies with all federal, state and local regulatory procedures regarding food service.

Essential Responsibilities

General Dining Service Duties

  • Provides support in the day to day operations of the dining room while maintaining a high quality, positive and safe physical and social environment for residents and fellow team members
  • Provides dining service training to new care managers
  • Has knowledge of Daily and Always Available
  • Menu items and can provide general description to the residents
  • Assists residents with menu selections and responds to pertinent questions about menu items
  • Responsible for taking meal and beverage orders and serving requested items according to established guidelines
  • Responds to the dining needs of the residents
  • Attends pre-meal briefing to gain knowledge of the meal and meal support activities
  • Follows all local, state and federal policies regarding food handling
  • Maintains standards of cleanliness, hygiene and health standards
  • Essential Duties: General Dining Room Duties
  • Performs dining room checklist inspections for dining room cleanliness and readiness and makes necessary adjustments as appropriate to maintain quality standards
  • Maintains side work duties as assigned
  • Maintains assigned tables and surrounding area in a complete state of cleanliness, appearance and readiness
  • Performs and ensures dining room set-up and re-set of tables is in accordance with dining room procedures
  • Supports the dining room decorum and etiquette standards
  • Performs and completes opening and closing checklist criteria
  • Assists in table top inventories maintenance

Resident Services

  • Reviews, reads, notates and initializes the Daily Log to document and learn about pertinent information
  • Reviews Resident Diet Book, confidential Diet Board/Indicator, Data Card or Chart
  • Maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information at all times

Food Safety and Sanitation

  • Safe food handling is practiced at all times to prevent an outbreak of food borne illness
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly cleaning assignments
  • Maintains all work areas in a healthful and safe condition
  • Assists in dining room and surrounding areas for proper directional flow,
  • Organization and supplies placement

Risk Management and General Safety

  • Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with OSHA requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations
  • Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures

Training, and Contributing to Team Success

  • Actively participates as a member of a team and committed to working toward team goals
  • Demonstrates in daily interactions with others
  • Committed to serving our residents and guests
  • Contributes in the overall engagement programs and processes (customer and employee engagement) including participating in the employee engagement survey and engagement improvement planning workshops
  • Attends regular meetings; Town Hall, Department Team Meetings and others as directed by the Dining Coordinator

Training/Online Training

  • Fulfills all required training within the required timeframe, including the completion of all training and study application appropriate for the position.
  • Completes all training required by the state or other regulating authorities including ongoing training per regulations
  • Completion of the following training may be required and/or certificates available per regulations and laws as applicable:
  • ServeSafe Certificate

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of knowledge, skills and abilities required
  • One (1) year job related experience preferred
  • High School diploma preferred/GED acceptable
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication
  • Competent in organizational, time management skills
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Required to have a valid driver's license
