Job Description
The ECU Department of Water Resources Center is currently seeking several student employees from all majors for our Water Corp program. The Water Corp program is a student-focused organization working to better understand, protect, and conserve water resources in eastern North Carolina.
Water Corp employees will get a unique opportunity to work on environmentally focused projects for clients within and external to ECU while learning skills necessary to work in a real-world business. Water Corp is set to operate like an environmental consulting firm, allowing students to gain marketable real-world experiences, or scientific research experience prior to graduation. Employees will explore opportunities including engaging with clients, field sample collection, water analysis in a laboratory setting, and drafting of marketing and outreach materials.
Opportunities will be tailored to students' professional interests and career path. The students in this position will be involved in different projects at the Water Resources Center with duties that include but are not limited to:
* Water sample collection and analysis (surface water, groundwater, storm water, and/or wastewater)
* Schedule and maintain timelines for projects
* Run analytical instrumentation
* Oversee, prepare, and process water and soil samples
* Prepare reagents and stocks solutions
* Performing various lab and office duties
* Regular reporting to faculty leadership and Director of the Water Resources Center
* Communicating with internal and external clients on a regular basis.
Hours per week: 5-15

Skills Needed
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to work in teams and independently
* A personal growth mindset that is extended to helping others grow in a positive environment
* Ability to interact in a positive manner with people from a wide range of backgrounds
Preferred technical skills (not mandatory)
* Lab training and/or research experience
* Familiarity with programming languages (Python and R)
